TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays are opening the full Saturday major league schedule with a day game at Rogers Centre against Seattle. The Blue Jays start the day two games back of Baltimore in the AL East, with Seattle five and a-half back of Texas in third place in the AL West.
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale is gunning for his major league-leading 15th victory tonight against Detroit. Last time out, Sale was cruising on a shutout with eight innings of one-hit ball against Seattle before the White Sox bullpen imploded with four runs in the ninth to give Sale a no decision for his effort.
NEW YORK (AP) — The San Francisco Giants will see how All-Star catcher Buster Posey is feeling when they try to end their six-game losing streak today at Yankee Stadium. Posey left last night's game after fouling a ball off his right foot, and X-rays were negative. He said he was sore after the game, and was listed as day to day with a bruise.
OAKVILLE, Ontario (AP) __ Dustin Johnson and Luke List start third-round play tied for the lead at the Canadian Open at seven under par. The big move of the day went to Derek Fathauer, who fired a 7-under 65 to jump 56 places into a tie for sixth.
MORZINE, France (AP) — In the Tour de France, Chris Froome kept his lead intact today during the final day of climbing in the Alps. He's poised to win his third Tour de France title in four years when the race ends tomorrow in Paris. Spanish rider Jon Izagirre won the rainy penultimate stage.
