MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Ball State has bolstered its roster by adding point guard Naiel Smith and center Nate Wells.
The 6-foot-4 Smith, a native of Brooklyn, New York, averaged 6.8 points, 4.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds last season at San Jacinto in Texas and helped his team to a No. 12 ranking in the final junior college poll. He has two years of eligibility remaining. Smith spent his freshman season at Texas State.
The 7-foot-1, 260-pound Wells has already earned his degree from Bradley and will be eligible immediately. Over the final nine games last season, the Iowa native started eight times and averaged 7.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks during that stretch.
He played in 58 career games after redshirting as a freshman and averaged 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds.
