OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Weber State University is beginning its annual drive to fill shoe boxes with items homeless veterans might need.
Veterans Upward Bound Coordinator Jim Kopecky says he started the tradition at Weber State seven years ago.
Weber State participants choose a box and fill it with small gifts such as gloves, hats, playing cards, toiletries and snacks.
Kopecky says the shoe box provides a way for the homeless to carry their belongings.
The boxes needing to be filled can be picked up weekdays in the Miller Administration Building at Weber State.
Filled boxes need to be returned by December 15th to Veterans Upward Bound at the university.
The boxes will be taken to the Homeless Veterans Fellowship in Ogden for distribution.
