Randall Jeppesen reportingThe high gas prices have so many people looking for a cheaper way to get to work that the Utah Transit Authority says it's van Rideshare program now has a waiting list.
UTA has 480 passenger vans that it leases out to groups that carpool to work. Stacey Adamson with UTA in Utah County says she used to go out to companies to convince them the Rideshare program was a good idea. Now the companies are coming to her.
"There is a waiting list," Adamson confirmed.
UTA has been adding up the gas money the van riders are saving.
"At $3.50 a gallon that ended up saving residents in Utah County, just for the month of April alone, $93,000," she said.
It's estimated that last year Rideshare van riders statewide saved a combined $9 million.
