SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two Utah recreation areas have been designated as national recreation trails by the U-S Department of the Interior.

The Fishers Tower Trial near Moab is a 2.2 mile backcountry trek that takes visitors along the Colorado Plateau.

And the Wetland Wonders Walk is a half-mile accessible trail through the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.

Both were among 22 national recreation trails designated yesterday -- bringing the total number of trails to 1,000 nationwide.

National Recreation Trials are part of the National Trails System that's administered by a National Park Service program. The network includes more than 11,000 miles of recreation area.
