Utah soldier in Iraq gets help on weeds at home

OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Other veterans are stepping in to clean up around the Ogden home of a soldier in Iraq.

The Standard-Examiner reports that Army Sgt. Sam Mendoza was facing possible city tickets for overgrown weeds in his yard.

The Ogden Homeless Veterans Fellowship plans to keep up the yard maintenance for Mendoza.

Tuesday was the third time veterans got to work.

Fellowship director Jeff Kane said the United Way of Northern Utah provides funding for projects that puts veterans to work on community service projects.
