Utah County couple turn down plea deal

Randall Jeppesen reportingA man and wife charged with having sex with an underage girl in Utah County turned down a plea deal today.

Brett and Jennifer MacArthur are both charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a teenage girl. But there were talks of a plea deal, until today.

"I'm a little irritated about the whole thing," prosecutor Doug Finch said. He says the defense turned down the deal.

The victim in the case says this drags out an already stressful process for her, which includes having to face the couple again in court. "I try to ignore him ‘cause he gives me glares, both of them. I think they're trying to intimidate me," she said.

The victim says the couple had tried to convince her to be a second wife.

The MacArthurs declined to talk outside of court other than calling the victim's story a lie.
