SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The University of Utah's board of Trustees is expected to approve a comprehensive 20-year plan to build 40 new buildings as part of a more pedestrian friendly campus.
The board was scheduled to meet Monday.
The plan focuses future construction in the heart of campus by connecting it to light rail stations with features designed for pedestrians.
The new buildings will add 3.8 million square feet of new space and require demolition of nearly 400,000 square feet in 16 obsolete buildings.
The plan's intended to make the campus a destination for the public and a center of student life.
