LAYTON — A 16-year-old boy died in an auto-pedestrian accident in Layton Thursday night, police said.
The teenager was crossing Main Street at Angel Street about 8:30 p.m. when a pickup truck southbound on Main hit him, according to Layton police.
The investigation so far shows the boy was in a crosswalk but the traffic light indicated no crossing at the time he was hit, police said. He was taken to a local hospital with head and leg injuries and died at the hospital. His name has not yet been released.
Investigators believe the 71-year-old man driving the pickup truck had a green light at the time of the accident. There is no indication that the driver was impaired. Police noted the accident happened during a downpour of rain that may have reduced visibility.
