Senate votes to make viewing child pornography illegal

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Senate says knowingly viewing child pornography should be illegal.

Senate Bill 83 passed, 27-0, and now will be heard in the House. It's already illegal to possess, distribute or produce child pornography.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Chris Buttars, a Republican from West Jordan. Viewing child pornography would be a second-degree felony.
