SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The mayor of Utah's largest city supports a bill that would deny public access to disciplinary records of police officers.
With just a few exceptions, Senate Bill 260 would keep a lid on records statewide.
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker is supporting the bill on the advice of his police chief, Chris Burbank. The records of Salt Lake County deputies have similar protections.
Opponents of the Senate bill say taxpayers should have access to records of police officers.
