PERRY, Box Elder County — A pedestrian who walked onto the freeway in Perry, in Box Elder County, died Saturday after being hit by a semitruck, troopers said.

The crash happened at 10:50 p.m. on northbound I-15 about a mile before the Brigham City exit, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Troopers did not know why the pedestrian was on the freeway at that time. The pedestrian died at the scene. His or her name has not yet been released.

The driver of the semitruck was not in injured.
