SALT LAKE CITY — A small plane crashed near West Valley City on Saturday, leaving both occupants with minor injuries. Lt. Steve Beardshall with the West Valley City Police Department said they responded to the incident around 3:55 p.m. on Saturday after the plane, a Piper Cherokee 140, crashed onto property owned by Northrop Grumman. The pilot called in the crash himself. Neither he nor the female juvenile passenger were taken to the hospital. The plane had originally departed from the South Valley Regional Airport towards Wendover, but turned back after traveling to west of Delle, Tooele. The FAA was notified of the incident. The West Valley City Police Department, the West Valley City Fire Department and Northrop Grumman all responded to the crash.
