PARK CITY — A Park City man accused of bringing a bag of marijuana edibles to work was arrested after a 16-year-old co-worker allegedly took one and had a seizure.
Juan C. Riqueno Tenorio, 24, was booked into the Summit County Jail on Monday for investigation of distributing drugs, six counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident happened Sunday night at an undisclosed restaurant when emergency crews were called on a report of a 16-year-old girl having a seizure.
"Initial reports were that she had consumed edible THC products and subsequently became ill. The patient's co-worker was interviewed and advised the female had told him she was given a THC edible by another co-worker," according to a jail booking affidavit.
The girl later told Summit County sheriff's detectives that Tenorio had brought a bag of THC gummies to work and kept them in a Sour Patch Kids bag.
"She asked Riqueno for one and he gave her one by pulling a blue gummy out of the bag and handing it to her. She said Riqueno told her they were the good kind and admitted to knowing they were a THC product. She stated she later became ill and began shaking uncontrollably. She was subsequently transported to the hospital via ambulance for medical care," according to the affidavit.
Deputies went to Tenorio's Park City residence and in his room found multiple marijuana products, psilocybin mushrooms, an Ecstasy pill, LSD, cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, the affidavit states.
The arrest comes a little over a week after a man in Box Elder County was arrested and accused of giving THC gummies to unsuspecting co-workers, causing some to seek medical attention.
