OGDEN — Ogden police are conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting early Thursday.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard just after 12:30 a.m. on reports of a robbery, Ogden Police Lt. Shawn Hamblin said. They arrived in time to see the suspect enter the passenger side of a vehicle that was leaving the scene.

Officers stopped the vehicle about a block away. A police officer pursued the man, stopping him in the backyard of a home at 2334 Liberty Ave.

"The officer fired one shot from the pistol, which did not strike the suspect," Hamblin said. "The suspect dropped to the ground and was taken into custody."

The bullet hit a rain gutter and lodged in a corner of the garage of a nearby home. Hamblin said the officer involved in the incident reported that he felt threatened by the suspect.

An internal investigation is being conducted into the matter.

Noe Armando Gonzalez, 20, was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of robbery, assault on a peace officer, avoiding apprehension and unlawful consumption. Hamblin said both Gonzalez and the man driving the suspect vehicle involved have gang ties.
