SALT LAKE CITY (AP) --High gas prices are leading to a significant increase in the number of vehicles in Utah being fueled by natural gas.
Questar Corp. reports that since January, 2007, natural gas-sales for vehicles have shot up 401 percent.
The utility estimates that there are at least 6,000 vehicles in Utah running on natural gas, but the nonprofit Utah Clean Cities Coalition says that number could be as high as 20,000.
State officials say many people are converting their cars into natural gas vehicles themselves.
There is no statewide rule restricting home conversions.
