SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Air quality monitors have issued a red alert for Utah's heavily populated Wasatch Front.
A high-pressure temperature inversion has cold air trapping pollutants near the ground.
The alert was issued Sunday for Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Weber counties.
During a red air alert, wood burning is prohibited and commuters are encouraged to limit driving and double up by carpool when possible.
