Man files suit against two companies over patent idea

Randall Jeppesen reporting A Lindon man is suing Apple and Starbucks saying the companies stole his patented idea.

Back in 2000, Jamie Driessen came up with a way to download music, movies and more to a computer without having to type out a credit card number and personal information online.

Instead, the person would buy the download at the store with cash or whatever, then go home and it's ready to download.

He says that he pitched the idea several times to businesses including Apple. Then he says he saw Apple using his idea to sell downloaded music at Starbucks.

"It's disheartening to see people that we have had contact with just go out and do it anyway without our permission," Driessen said.

So, he is suing Apple and Starbucks. He does own a patent on the idea, but he hopes it gets settled and says he's eager to work with companies like Apple and others.
