Man convicted of sex with teen faces new charges involving same boy

SALT LAKE CITY — A Heber City man previously convicted of unlawful sexual activity with a minor is in trouble again for allegedly having a relationship with the same boy, police say.

Grand Frederick Johnson, 19, was charged on Sept. 20 in 1st District Court with four counts forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony; four counts of enticing a minor, a second-degree felony; and four counts of dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony.

On Tuesday, Johnson made his initial court appearance in Cache County.

In February 2018, Johnson pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a class B misdemeanor. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to undergo therapy.

The victim in that case, however, found out that Johnson was doing his therapy at the same place where one of the victim’s relatives was attending therapy, and the two reconnected, according to charging documents.

Soon, two began meeting once or twice a month, right after Johnson was done with therapy, to vape THC cartridges and engage in sex, the charges state.

“(The boy) stated he would meet with Grant in Cache County after Grant finished his therapy appointments in Logan. (He) disclosed they would have sex every time they met. They did marijuana every time they met,” according to court documents.

The two also exchanged nude pictures of each other, the charges state.

In May, Johnson made headlines when he lost his iPod and was arrested after it was found and child pornography was discovered on it.

Johnson was charged in Wasatch County’s 4th District Court with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

On Aug. 28, Johnson pleaded guilty to two counts in exchange for the 18 other counts being dismissed. He is scheduled to be sentenced in that case on Oct. 23.
