Huntsman to speak at Republican National Convention

Utah's governor hits the national stage next month. He's been asked to speak at the Republican National Convention.

Speaking roles are limited at the convention and are considered prestigious. Hunstman is a relatively unknown figure on the national GOP scene.

"It's a great honor for Governor Huntsman, and I think well deserved. He's seen as a rising star in the Republican party," said Hinckley Institute of Politics Director Kirk Jowers.

He says Gov. Huntsman is known in the West, but his speech will put him more into the spotlight across the country. It's fueling talk that he may be picked for a high-level position if John McCain becomes president.

The Republican National Convention runs from Sept. 1-4 in St. Paul, Minn.
