Marc Giauque reporting Utah's new commuter rail tracks will soon be getting a lot more use. Empty trains will begin running regular schedules tomorrow.
Train whistles are something people may hear a lot of in the next few weeks as the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) finalizes the ramp-up to commuter rail service in late April or early May.
"What we're doing right now to get our operators up to speed on exactly how everything's going to run and the timing issues," explained UTA spokeswoman Carrie Bonsack-Ware.
Bonsack-Ware says trains will be running the entire route, starting on most days at 5 a.m.
She says over the next few weeks, operators will sound the trains' whistles at places along the entire route until the UTA finalizes its so-called "quiet zones."
