(KSL News) The Environmental Protection Agency has filed a lawsuit against Questar Gas Management Company for violating the Clean Air Act.
The EPA alleges the gas company has not been regulating emissions of hazardous air pollutants from its five compressor stations in the Uinta Basin for as long as ten years.
For each violation of the act between January of 1997 and March of 2004, the EPA wants to penalize Questar $27,500 a day. For each violation after March of 2004, the EPA wants to penalize Questar $32,500 per day.
By our math, Questar could end up owing hundreds of millions of dollars.
