Easter's early arrival surprises some

Tom Callan reporting Next Sunday is Easter, and for some Christians that is something of surprise this year.

It is the earliest Easter that Carmen Mancuso, owner of a religious goods store on State Street, can remember. So early, he says, that it has not been good for business. "Overall, it's shortened the season by two or three weeks," he said.

Monsignor Robert Cervacious says Easter suddenly popped up on this year's short calendar. "I was telling people we were beginning to sing ‘These Forty Days of Lent, Oh Lord' and my head still had ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful' in it," he said.

Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the beginning of spring.
