East High prepares for big crowds when HSM 3 opens

When "High School Musical 3" opens in theaters this weekend, there's a chance the tourism boom at Salt Lake's East High School will increase even more.

The first two made-for-TV movies have made East High School a busy place. Principal Dr. Paul Sagers said, "We have people [coming] from all over the world."

Sagers said he has tour guides take people around after 2:30 p.m. "We have just thousands and thousands of people coming through, and we are very accommodating," he said.

He said it will only get busier after "HSM 3" hits theaters on Friday. The PTSA has been selling T-shirts and hats that say "The Original East High." The school has sold nearly $20,000 in merchandise, and the money goes to East High teams and clubs.
