BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) -- Box Elder County's prosecutor says he won't file charges against the developers who illegally subdivided land in western Box Elder County and sold it online last year.
County Attorney Stephen Hadfield says it's likely that those involved didn't know the sales weren't legal because they failed to file a subdivision plat.
Parcels of 160-acres were subdivided and sold over the Internet to more than 3,000 buyers. A letter later sent to buyers by county commissioners said the land had no proper utilities or road access.
One developer tried last fall to legalize some of the parcels, but the petition was rejected because it didn't meet county subdivision standards.
