CLEARFIELD — Utah transportation officials say heavier-than-normal traffic and delays are expected on northbound I-15 near the 650 North bridge in Clearfield this weekend, and into early next week, as construction crews conduct pavement maintenance on the bridge.
Barring weather delays, lane reduction is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday and remain in place through 3 p.m. on Monday, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. The road will also be closed to all through traffic at I-15 during the construction period.
Similar lane restrictions are planned for the two weekends, from Sept. 23 to Sept. 26 and Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. The project will not impact southbound I-15.
This project is one of three projects in Davis County that could result in traffic delays this weekend, UDOT officials warned Friday. The other two will impact roads away from I-15.
Legacy Parkway between Centerville and Farmington
Legacy Parkway will be closed in both directions between Parrish Lane in Centerville and Park Lane in Farmington from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday to allow construction crews to install five sections of storm drain pipes underneath the parkway that are needed as UDOT continues to construct the new West Davis Highway.
Drivers will be detoured onto I-15 throughout the weekend closure.
U.S. 89 between Layton and Fruit Heights
The highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Oak Hills Drive in Layton and 400 North in Fruit Heights from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday before both directions will be closed for a much shorter period of time than the other two projects. The full closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, which will allow construction crews to place beams for a new utility bridge over the highway, according to UDOT.
Drivers will be detoured to a frontage road and then back onto the highway at the Oak Hills Drive and 400 North interchanges, officials say.
Like the other two projects, the construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
