SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Brigham Young University is the first American school to win an international student competition focused on branding.

BYU's student team won L'Oreal's international brand-promotion competition in Paris.

Blake Hadley, Matt Miller and Monica McGhie devised a marketing program that the jury comprised of L'Oreal executives also named "Best Communications Campaign."

The event is effectively a job tryout to work for the world's largest producer of cosmetics and skin-care products. The BYU team members also won 10,000 Euros in travel money, worth more than $15,000. Other top finishers among the 38 nations to participate were from the United Kingdom, Singapore and Argentina.
