LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Developers of the planned Black Bear Resort received tentative approval to build a European resort-style mountain village on the Idaho side of Bear Lake.

The Salt Lake City developers have received permission to start building streets, a model home and a sales office.

Bruce Barrett and Brad Auger still have to show they have enough water rights for thousands of houses. They also plan to build a 600-slip marina.

The Bear Lake County Commission gave its approval for an overall development plan last week.

Bear Lake is 120 miles from Salt Lake City. Logan, Utah, a town of 50,000, is an hour away.
