Student gets probation after admitting Ohio school threat

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A student at a southwest Ohio high school who admitted sending an online message saying he was planning on "shooting up the school" has been sentenced to probation and other sanctions.

The Mason High School student last week admitted to a charge of inducing panic on school grounds. The Warren County Prosecutor's Office says he sent the group chat message to friends on March 16, and it was reported to the school anonymously.

The teen was put on probation and must be on house arrest with GPS monitoring while school is still in session. He also must complete intensive outpatient psychological therapy and anger management.

The student also was ordered to write a formal letter of apology to Mason City Schools and complete an essay for the juvenile court judge.
