TOOELE, Utah (AP) — A small plane has crashed into Utah's Great Salt Lake, killing the pilot.

Tooele County sheriff's deputies say the Utah man's body was recovered Saturday morning just off Stansbury Island and it's believed he was flying alone.

A search for the single-engine plane began early Saturday after the pilot's family reported him as overdue.

The plane took off from West Jordan and its destination was unknown.

The pilot's name was not immediately released.

The crash is under investigation by federal authorities.
