SALT LAKE CITY — A new snow storm is expected to bring roughly one foot of snow or more to Utah's mountains, and no one loves it more than Utah skiers and snowboarders. KSL caught up with some headed to the resorts up Big Cottonwood Canyon. They were excited about what the incoming storm would bring. The swoosh of skis Friday night at Brighton Ski Resort will likely get a lot louder over the weekend. A storm potentially packing up to two feet of snow is expected to hit the Utah mountains over the next few days, and a lot of skiers and snowboarders are waiting to enjoy it. "I'm excited for it to get some snow, it's been a pretty dry winter this year," said Brooklyn Landers, a skier at Brighton. "Two feet, yeah, massive difference, so much more of the mountain you'll be able to ski," said Hugo Holmes, another Brighton skier. "It's just like more options, and the new lifts and the snow is, it's just more fun," said Kaydence Bonino, yet another skier at Brighton. This season so far has been one of the worst snow years on record. Many Utah ski resorts are forced to delay their opening day and limit terrain. Snow so low, U.S. Ski moved the Freestyle World Cup aerials and moguls events in Deer Valley out of state. "Obviously, it's been a bit of a slower start to the season than we would've liked, but we're just happy it's finally here," said Alison Palmintere, Ski Utah director of communications. Skiers and snowboarders feel the same way. "Yeah, I mean it's about time to be honest," said Holmes. "It's been kind of a bummer to wait, but also you ski until April or something — so we'll have some time," said London Rigby, a skier at Brighton. There's still a lot of time left for Utah to turn this season around. This weekend, skiers are crossing their fingers this storm packs as much punch as possible, looking at it like — "Better late than never."
