SALT LAKE CITY – A fireball could be seen by drivers on Midvalley Highway early Thursday at around 4:50 a.m. as a meteor lit up the sky during the Lyrid meteor shower.

KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson said the big flash seen in the video was the moment the meteor exploded due to the intense heat and pressure of Earth's atmosphere.
