Legacy Launches Hurricane, Tornado Emergency Evacuation Kits
SALT LAKE CITY, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Legacy Food Storage, a
manufacturer of good tasting, high-quality gourmet meals for food
storage and emergency use, today launched emergency kits specific to
the needs of individuals and families in both hurricane- and
tornado-prone regions. The hurricane and tornado "bug out" bags
provide essentials that are easy to carry and use in a discreet
backpack for those forced to evacuate their homes. These include
shelter options such as blankets and tents, water storage and
purification tablets, meal-replacement shakes for sustained
nourishment, and many others.
Earthquake, flood and cold weather kits - as well as "bug-in" kits for
those required to shelter in place for an extended period of time -
will be available within the next few weeks.
"While much of what a family would need when evacuating would be the
same no matter what kind of severe weather, there are certain items
beneficial for tornados that you likely wouldn't need during a
hurricane - and vice versa," said Phil Cox, CEO, Legacy Food Storage.
"For example, those 'bugging out' during a hurricane would benefit
from a vinyl poncho and possibly an advanced water filter in case
water lines became contaminated and closed off for an undetermined
length of time, while those in a tornado might need a NOAA weather
radio to keep track of tornados in their area at all times."
Legacy's essential 2-person hurricane and tornado "bug out" bags both
include:
-- a discreet heavy-duty backpack in muted colors, which doesn't look
like an emergency kit so the unprepared do not attempt to steal it
-- 1 L Tristan BPA free bottle
-- 15 large servings of the chocolate MegaOne Meal replacement shake
-- 2 emergency reflective Blankets
-- 2 adult emergency ponchos
-- 2-man tube tent
-- Rubberized flashlight w/2 D batteries
-- AM/FM radio with AAA batteries folding
-- 1 L water container water purification tablet w/instructions
-- Deluxe hygiene kit
-- 53 pc. First Aid Kit
-- Emergency Prep Guide in Waterproof Zip1 Bag with pencil
The tornado kit adds a NOAA Weather radio, 15-inch pry bar and a
14-in-1 emergency tool, while the hurricane kit includes the pry bar,
a vinyl poncho and a Seychelle flip top bottle with advanced water
filter. Deluxe kits and premium kits (for four people) add items such
as water bags, hand warmers, sleeping bags, waterproof match sets,
utility gloves and 50 ft. of survival rope.
Purchase the kits online at http://www.preparewise.com and
http://www.buyemergencyfoods.com, or at the Homestand Preparation
Station at NW 63 and May Ave. in Oklahoma City.
