DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Northern Illinois University has been given approval to resume work on a $27.4 million project that came to a halt amid the state's budget crisis.
According to The daily Chronicle in DeKalb (http://bit.ly/2a32G9j ), the Capital Development Board on Thursday advised the university and the contractors that work could resume on the Stevens Building project.
Work came to a stop last summer because the state did not have a budget in place.
But the process of restarting construction will be slow.
Capital Development Board spokeswoman Allie Bovis said the parties involved will meet over the coming weeks to figure out a timeline.
The state is paying for all of the work to renovate and add to the Stevens Building.
