CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A former Casper home health care company will pay $50,000 in back wages to female employees under a settlement in a discrimination case.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the settlement ends a case filed more than a year ago by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Interim Healthcare of Wyoming.
The lawsuit charged that the company underpaid its female nurses despite performing equal work to their male counterparts under similar working conditions and failed to take corrective action despite the complaints of several female staff members on a disparity in pay that, in some cases, amounted to several thousand dollars per year.
A phone number for the company was disconnected when a Star-Tribune reporter tried to call it Tuesday.
