SALT LAKE CITY -- State lawmakers have reached an agreement with the governor on the state budget. It looks like public education will take a hit after all.
Lawmakers did their best to minimize the cut. The agreement puts it at $10 million -- about half of the $21 million originally proposed.

The amount was reduced by borrowing from tobacco settlement money, according to state budget leaders.
Education officials are grateful the cuts are being minimized, but they are also facing hardship since growth is unfunded as well.
