(KSL News) Now that Utah Valley State College is heading toward university status, there are a lot of questions about the school's future. Today the college president met with faculty and students to answer some of those questions.

William Sederburg says that when the school becomes a university it will add master's degrees, but will continue to operate as a community college as well.

UVU to Offer Master's Programs

William Sederburg, president of UVSC: "It's absolutely critical to both our financial success, and the service to the community. Utah can't afford another community college, and we need to play both roles, community college and a four-year institution."

The new UVU plans to offer master's degrees in education, nursing and business. UVSC will officially become Utah Valley University on July 1, 2008.
