SALT LAKE CITY -- Some Utah doctors are on their way to help the people of Haiti.

A crew of 19 doctors left from the Salt Lake International Airport Sunday and will arrive early Monday morning. Each doctor left equipped with suitcases full of supplies like food and blankets.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sponsoring the humanitarian effort.

One of the doctors who left Sunday is Jeffery Randle, the founder of "Healing Hands for Haiti." He tells KSL the group will open an LDS chapel to use as a clinic, as well as work out of one of his buildings that survived the quake.

The group is planning to stay for a week, but say it could be longer.
