SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- If it's a bad-air red day, Snowbird will drop the price of a lift ticket by $20.
The Wasatch ski resort has announced it will cut prices on days when the Utah Department of Environmental Quality issues a "red" alert for Salt Lake County.
Snowbird says it isn't charging for a breath of fresh mountain air. It encourages skiers to use a transit bus to get to the resort.
The Salt Lake valley has more than 10 red days so far this winter, a temperature inversion that traps pollutants close to the ground. The mountains stay above the bad air.
Snowbird says the discount is not valid over the Feb. 12-15 President's Day weekend and could be dropped at any time.
The discount is off a full-priced ticket, bringing the price down to $52.
