Pedestrian hit by car, critically injured

SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A man was critically injured when hit by a car tonight in South Salt Lake.

It happened near 250 West and 3300 South just before 6 p.m. Gary Keller of the South Salt Lake Police Department tells KSL a man in his 40s was jaywalking and actually ran out into traffic.

He was struck and suffered major head and leg injuries. He was transported to a hospital.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Keller says the driver who hit him was not in the wrong.
