WEST JORDAN -- A fight at a West Jordan gas station escalated Thursday night when one man slashed another with a knife.

Police say a man walked into the Holiday Mart at 4464 W. New Bingham Highway with his teenage son when a man bumped into him. The two began to argue, then to fight. That's when then the father of the teenager slashed the other man in the chest.

The injured man was flown to the hospital. The father was also taken to the hospital for cuts and bruises.

Police are investigating whether the father acted in self-defense.
