Press releaseSANDY -- Real Salt Lake today acquired forward Pablo Campos via trade with the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for a second round pick in the 2010 SuperDraft and a conditional selection in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.

Campos will join Real Salt Lake (5-6-5, 20 pts.) Thursday morning for its training session at Rio Tinto Stadium and will be eligible for selection in this Saturday's road contest against the defending MLS Cup champion, the Columbus Crew (5-3-9, 24 pts.).

"We've scouted Pablo now for two years and we are very excited about his potential," said Real Salt Lake General Manager Garth Lagerwey. "We look forward to him joining us and adding a new dimension to our attack."

The 26-year-old Campos began the MLS portion of his career this past February, when he signed with the Earthquakes during their preseason. Campos notched a pair of goals and assists during his 14 appearances (nine starts) with San Jose, including a goal and two assists across his last three starts.

Prior to joining San Jose, Campos served a brief stint with Swedish Allsvenskan side GAIS Göteborg for whom he made eight appearances during their 2008 campaign. Before moving on to Sweden, the Brazilian played two seasons with the Fresno Fuego of the USL Premier Development League, scoring 14 goals for the squad in 2008 and a PDL-best 18 goals in 2007, when he was named the league's Most Valuable Player and helped lead the Fuego to the PDL's National Semifinals. It was as a member of the Fuego that Campos caught the eye of now RSL Head Coach Jason Kreis, who suited up against the budding striker in a preseason contest for the Claret-and-Cobalt.

Campos' collegiate accolades include scoring 17 goals and tallying nine assists for Fresno Pacific University en route to earning the 2007 NSCAA/adidas NAIA Men's All-American Award, which followed a successful stint at Oklahoma Baptist University from 2005-06. As a youth, Campos spent three years with Guarani of his native Sao Paulo (1997-2000) and two additional years at Rio de Janeiro-based Botafogo (2000-02).
