LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- A fine issued to a northern Utah egg producer will be going to a Utah State University wetlands project instead of the state.
Ritewood Egg Incorporated will contribute to USU's Botanical Center to help pay for the project in Kaysville.
Ritewood Egg agreed to a 105-thousand dollar penalty in August for releasing waste into the Bear and Cub rivers in spring 2005. The Division of Water Quality says money that doesn't go to the USU project will go to the state fund.
Environmentalists say it's a good deal for everyone involved. But they also want to make sure Ritewood doesn't release waste into the rivers again.
