WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gov. Huntsman's confirmation hearings for the ambassador position could be held the first week in June.

The ranking republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says the panel could take up the matter for consideration when Congress returns from its Memorial Day vacation.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Democratic Sen. John Kerry says they will deal with Huntsman's nomination as soon as possible.

If Huntsman is approved for the position of ambassador to China by the Senate panel, his nomination will be voted on by the full Senate.
