(KSL News) Some dedicated elementary school students are taking home the gold.
The kids from the Guadalupe Schools reached their goal of walking 2,000 miles this year to become a Gold Medal School, and they made it a walk across the United States.
The students started in Salt Lake. As they continued their adventure across the country, they studied facts about each state they walked through on the way to their goal of physical fitness and daily exercise.
This afternoon, the Statue of Liberty welcomed them to their final destination: New York City.
The Gold Medal program encourages kids to get active and stay healthy.
