(KSL News) Salt Lake Mayor Ralph Becker gave his second State of the City address tonight. In the speech, he went over the highlights of 2008 and goals for 2009.

He also announced three new initiatives to enhance the lives of Salt Lake City residents:

  • Despite an unsuccessful bond in 2007, Mayor Becker will unveil plans for a substantially streamlined Public Safety Complex with a reduced price tag.
  • The mayor also hopes to begin construction on a new Sports Complex in Rose Park by Fall 2009.
  • Becker also wants to build a modern streetcar system which he thinks would urbanize and reinvigorate many areas of the city.
