(KSL News) A car slammed into the Red Iguana restaurant on 763 W. North Temple today during the lunch hour.

Salt Lake City police say a car was headed west on North Temple when it veered off the road and crashed right into the side of the restaurant.

The driver was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Diners at the restaurant were not hurt, but they were a little rattled.

Kelly Davis said, "We were just sitting there, eating lunch and all of a sudden just heard a loud noise and felt the wall smash in behind me and glass was everywhere. [I] kind of just slouched down because I thought it was a gun or a bomb or something."

Police are investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
