MIDVALE — After serving for 50 years in the Salt Lake Diocese, St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Midvale will be holding a diaconate anniversary Mass for Deacon Stan Stott.

The special Mass will begin at 6 p.m. at 624 Lennox Street in Midvale and is open to the general public. After the Mass, a special dinner will be held at the church and is also open to the public.

"Fifty years seems like it went by quite fast," Stott said.

Stott graduated as a permanent deacon at age 35 on Dec. 26, 1976, years after the Holy See reopened the position. Now age 85, Stott said he still enjoys serving in his position and plans to keep serving for as long as he can.
