SOUTH SALT LAKE — A new Veterans Affairs clinic is coming to South Salt Lake after VA leaders broke ground Wednesday on a facility designed to expand access to healthcare for veterans across the region.

The 112,000-square-foot South Salt Lake clinic will be built near 37th South and State Street.

The facility is expected to bring several outpatient services closer to where veterans live while helping ease demand at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The new clinic will include primary care, mental health services, women's health, pharmacy, pathology and laboratory medicine, and whole health services.

"Our promise is to deliver a clinic of quality accessibility and durability for the next 20 years," said Lindsay Killian, with the Office of Construction and Facilities Management. "When these doors open, the veterans of this community will walk into a facility that they feel like it's built for them."

VA leaders say the project is focused on creating a modern, welcoming space while improving convenience for patients.

The clinic is expected to house about 168 staff members and include parking for approximately 600 vehicles.

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2028, with the clinic opening shortly after.
