1 dead after car collides with motorcycle in South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man said to be in his mid-20s is dead after a car and a motorcycle collided Tuesday afternoon, police said.

South Salt Lake police spokesman Shaun Ward said that at about 3:46 p.m., officers responded to the area of 3300 S. 200 East, where a Mazda CX-9 and a motorcycle crashed.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene, and the driver of the Mazda was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.

3300 South was closed in both directions between State Street and 300 East for a time but later reopened.
